Hand crafted unique, one of a kind copper drop earrings. Asian-inspired design, this piece was created using form-folding, a method of metalsmithing where sheet copper is hand cut, heated with a torch, water quenched, and folded like a piece of paper.
The folds are then hammered flat, creating dynamic creases and folds in the metal. This process is repeated multiple times. The metal undergoes changes in color and texture, the end result is very sculptural. The earring mid section is wire wrapped in copper wire.
The arched bail attachment to the ear wire is hammered brass, attached by wire wrapping. Size of the earring is approximately 2 inches, is very lightweight yet sturdy. The piece has been burnished and sealed with a sealant to prevent tarnish. Very easy to maintain. Ear wires are non-reactive.
